Posed batting stance in front of a set of stumps, wearing Middlesex cap. Caption in black at bottom "P.F.Warner Middlesex." Plain back. Good condition. 'Plum' Warner (1873-1963) played for Oxford University (1894-96, blue 1895 and 1896), Middlesex (1894-1920, 345 matches) and in 15 Tests for England (1898/9-1912) scoring more than 29,000 runs at about 36, with 60 centuries. He captained England in 10 Test matches and the M.C.C. on three major tours. He led Middlesex from 1908 to 1920 and served as the Club's Hon Secretary (1920-22) and President (1937-46). In 1937 he was knighted for his services to cricket. He wrote many books on the game, besides being Editor of 'The Cricketer' and cricket correspondent for the 'Morning Post' from 1921 to 1932.
