Taher Memon worked for the Pakistan Tobacco Company, and was responsible for organising the first sponsorship deals in 1977 (Wills Man of the Match Awards) and running the sponsorship from 1977 to 1997, during which time Pakistan became a power in world cricket. He was responsible for starting Pakistan's first limited over competition, the Wills Cup, and is generally recognised as the best administrator in Pakistan cricket.
